Teachers and micro-entrepreneurs residing in Balanga, Dinalupihan, and Morong, located in the province of Bataan, have enhanced their knowledge and understanding of financial management. This positive change has been facilitated by the collaborative efforts of BDO Network Bank (BDONB), the community bank under BDO, which organized community events and financial wellness workshops.
BDONB extended its outreach to remote communities in Bataan, delivering comprehensive financial training sessions. These sessions include effective budgeting, prudent saving practices, investment strategies, and adept management of loans, both for personal and business purposes.
Explaining the rationale behind this initiative, Jesus Antonio S. Itchon, President of BDO Network Bank said, "Financial literacy contributes to the community's development, and this is why we continuously provide financial education in different areas."
Itchon further highlighted the bank's overarching aspiration: to empower fellow Filipinos with the skills to proficiently navigate financial matters, thereby paving the way for improved quality of life and enhanced opportunities.
As a fundamental component of BDONB's initiative, a special community day was organized in far-flung towns. The primary aim of this event was to provide a platform for offering products and services specifically designed to support the aspirations of micro-entrepreneurs, educators, and individuals who benefit from the contributions of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). This endeavor seeks to empower these diverse segments of the population to realize their dreams and ambitions.
One example is the Kabuhayan Loan, a specialized business loan meticulously crafted by BDONB to provide valuable assistance to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) seeking supplementary funds to nurture their businesses. The loan facility spans from Php 30,000 to Php 500,000, uniquely available without collateral.
For individuals inclined toward initiating their savings journey, BDO Network Bank presents an accessible option: the ATM Savings Account. Opening this account only requires 2 valid IDs, an initial deposit of Php 100, and a nominal Php 100 fee for the ATM Card.
