The Day We Met Kuting Magiting

Who has not read a comic book? Or even a comic strip on the newspaper? Everyone at least once did, right?  I think the movie franchises of Marvel and DC Comics would have not been successful if the generations of comic readers did not exist.

My brother is an author and illustrator of his own comic book series, Sinag. So when I asked him if he knows a children's comic book I could review, he lent me his copy of HERO KITTEN Kuting Magiting: The Day I Met Kuting Magiting

Hero Kitten Kuting Magiting is a character created by an award-winning children's book author and illustrator, Robert Magnuson. Some of his other books include, Bullysaurus Rex, Go to Sleep, Kuting, and Run, Kuting! Run! published by OMF Literature-Hiyas.

Kuting (meaning, kitten) Magiting is a kitten who was almost hit by a car driven by a Professor on one rainy night. He brought the kitten home where his dog, Good Morning, also lives. In this comic book, it showed how the comic-loving-dog changed his feelings for Kuting. It also gave us a glimpse of Kuting's super powers.

What my son liked about the comic book is that it used speech balloons at a minimum. He can only read very few sight words  so when I explain the story, my son's focus was on the action illustrated in the comic book. The story is heart-warming, and the characters are adorable.

We are hoping to get the other books of Kuting Magiting. They are sold at OMF branches and I saw some copies of it at Ever Gotesco Commonwealth last summer. You can also buy them on the OMF website. Cool!

Have you met Kuting Magiting?

    1. For this comic book, Kuting Magiting, my brother got it from a comics convention. Not sure though if this particular comic book is available at Ever. But I did saw Run, Kuting, Run and Go to Sleep, Kuting on the shelves of Expressions at Ever Gotesco. :)

  3. a friend of mine told me before that comics is a dying breed in the philippines and his goal was to somehow contribute on reviving it. :) although i would not allow my son to read it yet once he learns to read because the content is not for kids :)

i myself was (well, not really avid) a comicbook reader when i was younger - whenever i am at my cousin's house :D

    1. I also thought before that comics are not for young kids. I was actually surprised that Kuting Magiting was written for kids. Robert also created toddler books which I have yet to check.

  8. Looks like an adorable book! I like Robert Magnuson's work as his books are really targeted to young audience like my kids. Bullysaurus Rex is a great book on bullying karma and dental health.
