Astoria Plaza Ortigas

We were invited for a dinner at Astoria Plaza Ortigas last year and was offered membership at their hotel and resort chain. I was reluctant at first since the cost was not cheap. But since we were to travel to Boracay that summer, the freebies will cover our stay there.

With our membership, we were able to get vouchers that my family and relatives were able to use within the year validity. Two of our vouchers were for a one-night free stay at their Astoria Plaza Ortigas' 1-bedroom suite. For our anniversary, I booked a two-nights stay at their Ortigas hotel.

A few years back I was fortunate to stay at their 2-bedroom suite together with colleagues. I'm pretty much aware of what their hotel has to offer.

Spacious Dining Area

A microwave oven, pots, pans, utensils, plates, and bowls are available for use.

The extra bed fit right at the foot of our bed. Yay! We slept in 1 room!

Feedback

Raves:
  • Quick response on online (email) reservations and queries
  • Clean room
  • They provided us an extra bed without us asking for it
  • Free shuttle service to and from the malls (please see my rant below)
  • Free wifi for 1 device
  • Quick assistance when our car broke down at their basement
  • Pots, pans, plates, bowls, and utensils are available; you can also cook
  • Near Ortigas malls
  • A Mini Stop right beside the hotel for your quick needs and alcohol ;)
  • A complimentary dishwashing liquid and dishwashing scrub are simple freebies but I really appreciate it!

Rants:
  • Our phones in the room did not have dial tones and I had to ask them several times (I had to go down at the front desk!) before they were fixed
  • 1-bedroom suites don't have bath tubs :(
  • They charged me for a face towel that went missing. The day before we checked-out, our room was cleaned by housekeeping and when I checked the bathroom, the face towel was no longer there. Coincidentally, when I checked-in together with my colleagues a few years back, one of the bath towels mysteriously "disappeared"and our team had to pay for it.
  • We were picked up late at Megamall by the free shuttle service. Pick up should have been around 6:30PM. We were at the pick up point at 6:15PM. It was already 7PM when I had to call their front desk to confirm if there will be someone to pick us up. When the shuttle came to pick us up a few minutes later, we were the only passengers. The driver said he got caught up in traffic. Our drive back to the hotel was less than 5 minutes. I knew in my head that they forgot to pick us up.

Overall, I would recommend their yearly membership if you already have plans of spending time at their hotels and resorts.

Would I go back? I would say yes. In spite of the troubles we experienced, we were able to enjoy our stay, it felt like home.

Note: They no longer allow parties conducted at their rooms
