No Yeast Cinnamon Rolls with Sugar Glaze Recipe

If you love cinnamon rolls and you're like me who can't stand the smell of yeast and the waiting time for the dough to rise, then this will be the recipe for you. I was able to get this recipe online (which I somehow tweaked) a few months ago and have been using it since then. This recipe has the sugar glaze only. You can search the net for cream cheese glaze to your liking. :)

Ingredients
Dough:
2 cups all-purpose flour (Maya or Pillsbury)
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons white sugar
3 tablespoons butter
4 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 cup milk

Filling:
4 tablespoons butter
1 cup brown sugar
4 teaspoons McCormick ground cinnamon

Sugar Glaze:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup milk

1. Prepare the filling: In a small bowl combine softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon to form a crumbly mixture.

2. Sprinkle 1/3 of the mixture over the bottom of a 9x9 pan.

3. In a large bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

4. Cut in softened butter using your hands.

5. Stir in milk to form a soft dough.

6. Roll out dough on a lightly floured flat surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.

7. Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

8. Spread the remaining filling on the rolled out dough.

9. Roll up the rectangle. With a sharp knife, slice into small rolls.  Arrange rolls in the pan.

10. Bake for 20-25 minutes.

11. To make sugar glaze: combine ingredients until smooth.

12. Drizzle on glaze when rolls have have cooled down.

I used a 9x10 pan here, an inch deep. A deeper pan is better

Tips:
  • Sift your flour first before measuring it.
  • 1 block stick of butter is equivalent to 8 tablespoons (approx 113 grams)
  • You can substitute butter to a rich creamy margarine like Dairy Magic; if butter is a bit pricey for you
  • Use a baking pan that is at least 2 inches deep.
