BKS Moms Pasko 2018

If there's one thing I am very proud of in my blogging career it's being able to work with seven diverse and amazing mommy bloggers: BKS Moms. With these women we were able to organize our first event with our community last December 1 at McDonald's in Alimall, Cubao.

Who are BKS Moms?

About a couple of years ago, a group chat on Facebook was created where eight mommy bloggers who are members of Mommy Bloggers Philippines met online. I have met (that time) some of them personally, but the others I only got to know from the group since I don't usually attend blogging events. The group chat was made just to have message exchanges with everyone about life and what-have-yous. Later on we helped each other out in our blogs and in each other's lives.

We named ourselves BKS Moms or B-usy K-ami S-a Moms because we are always busy with the kids, our work, and managing our homes. We hardly have time to meet face-to-face.

Earlier this year we created (finally!!) our Facebook page as BKS Moms and eventually opened a community group last November 1. We wanted to extend our group's goal of empowering and helping moms to other Pinay nanays as well.

As of writing we have a close to 400 members already in our Facebook group. These Nanays have been our reason to solemnly take our positions as catalysts for change through informative posts, engaging discussions, and by inspiring and lifting others.

With just a month and a half of preparation, we were able to pull through our first event. Our very own differences in skills and talents helped us gather the needed sponsors, resources, and logistics. We did everything on our own and I am so proud of the team I am part of.

We invited 20 moms from our Facebook community to join the mini make-up workshop, games, raffles, food, and chikahan. We wanted to personalize their experience hence we provided them their personalized workshop certificates, bag tags, name tags, loot bag, keychain, and even a letter!

Marie of Mamanee's Nest hosted our program and workshop while the rest of the mommy bloggers were busy with their own tasks.

We love our community so much that we gave each of the moms who attended a make-up kit.

We had raffles, special awards for early bird, best attire, and we had a mini-contest for the first Star BKS Mom. We chose three lovely moms from the attendees and they each had to answer a question (yes, mala-Ms. Universe ito). Kristine Oritle was second runner-up, Yen Lomocso as first runner-up, and the Star BKS Moms Winner was Cris Vergara.

The time spent with the moms was not enough that day, we need another meet-up! God-willing, we will have again this coming 2019.
