Scarred But Not Scared

Growing up as a young lady a couple of decades back (do the math. Ha ha!), I was conscious to wear skirts or shorts because I don't have flawless legs. On my skin are reminders of how I lived my childhood: careless and nature-loving. Scars from wounds and insect-bites-turned-blemishes - plus being a dalagang Pilipina - has turned me into a wear-pants-only lady when I leave the house. This continued until I graduated and worked. And then I learned about Contractubex.

What is Contractubex?

Contractubex is topical gel that helps treat scars. It has three active ingredients: Cepalin extract (onion base), Heparin (used to treat and prevent blood clots), and Allantoin (usually found in cosmetic products that promotes moisture.

Contractubex improves the appearance of scars

The gel is available in 10 grams (SRP Php 600) and 20 grams (SRP Php990). Since it is an over-the-counter product, you can get it easily at pharmacies nationwide.

How to use Contractubex?

Apply the gel only to wounds that are already closed or upon suture removal. Start at the center and work towards the edges, massaging the gel gently into the scar. Continue with small, circular motion until Contractubex is completely absorbed.

For new scars, apply Contractubex 2 to 3 times daily for at least 3 months. For older scars, apply Contractubex 3 times daily for at least 6 months.

Is It Effective?

I was in my early 20s when I started using Contractubex. I used it for at least 5 months but was only applying it 1-2 times a day. Even with just using it for 5 months, I already saw changes on my old scars. The scars became less visible, and the blemishes lightened. Seeing the changes in my skin has helped me build my confidence to wear clothes other than my trusted jeans. It has opened me to ideas to wear dresses and skirts.

With 3 C-sections under my belt, errr on my belly, I am hoping to see changes on my scars, too. These may be my "battle scars" but it wouldn't hurt if they don't look to obvious, no? I still dream of having flat abs and wear those two-piece bikinis. Ha ha!

It was only recently that I learned that they have an overnight intensive patch.

Scars will always be a reminder of how bold we are living our lives and that we are survivors. It wouldn't help too if we use products to remove them or at least let them less visible.
