Every year, the hunt for costumes becomes a family project. Sometimes we buy ready‑made outfits from SM Department Store, and other times we roll up our sleeves and make them ourselves. One year, I sewed four large legs out of long socks so our son could be a spider — a DIY project that was both fun and memorable.
Our daughter once won as Wonder Woman when she was just a toddler, proudly wearing her superhero outfit. And our eldest, at 12, bagged a special award for “Most Creative” when he dressed as Napoleon Bonaparte. His costume was simple yet clever: a coat, shirt, and long white socks he already owned, with stickers added to his shoulders and coat to signify his rank as a general.

This year, one of our kids has set their heart on becoming a Gryffindor student from the Harry Potter series. We’re on the lookout for affordable costume pieces — perhaps a robe, a tie, or even just accessories that can capture the Hogwarts vibe without breaking the budget.
