Simple Pokemon-Themed Backyard Birthday Party

One of our kids celebrated her birthday and opted for a Pokemon-themed party for some friends in her grandparents' neighborhood. At that time, the Luzon area was bombarded by a few typhoons, and we didn't plan much for her day since we were anticipating a typhoon on the day of the party. Here's our simple birthday party with all things Pokemon.

We already have some party supplies in our stash from previous birthdays and the ones we needed for Z's birthday, we ordered them from Shopee. We got her Pokeball balloons, some red and white balloons, and table covers. The idea was to make as simple as possible since we were not sure that we would actually have a party that afternoon.

For the invitation, I designed it in Canva, printed it on photo paper, and distributed it to her friends.

I actually canceled the tables and chairs I reserved when I learned that the typhoon would still affect the party that weekend. Good thing my sister rented some tables and chairs at the last minute when we saw that the weather was getting better around lunchtime.

Main table setup

I was so shocked that a large number of kids showed up at the gate, even the ones we did not know and invited. I was only expecting around 10 kids but the number of those who attended was twice the number of invited.

Never underestimate the power of tsismis inside a small village. Haha!

Food

For the cake, we ordered from Lemon Square Bakery a Minimalist Chocolate Pink (8 inches, Php618). We styled the top using a banner I made and printed, and Pokemon toys I ordered from Shopee.

I initially wanted to have cupcakes but I saw a baker based in Laguna, near the party's venue, and ordered from her. The home-based baker I saw on Facebook (Mommy's Cakes and Pastries) makes Pokemon-themed mini donuts which are perfect for the small hands of our guests. We ordered 36 pieces of the mini donuts. At that time, the price was only Php650 plus the cost of the rider to deliver.

For the drinks, we opted for Minute Maid juice boxes. We have mango, apple, and orange flavors, to have options. We placed them in a cooler before we handed them out to make sure these are chilled.

Moreover, we had Jollibee spaghetti, fruit salad, pancit, ice cream, and lumpia.

Giveaways

We got all the fillers for the loot bags from Shopee. I didn't spend any on the loot bag itself since I still have some red boxes in my stash of packaging materials. Here are the fillers we got for the kids:

  • Jackstone
  • Yoyo smiley
  • Pokemon playing cards
  • Paper dolls
  • Pokeballs with toys inside
  • stickers
  • erasers
  • other toys her Auntie added to the bags

I am so happy that I prepared 20 loot bags since a lot of kids attended the party.

I decided not to have any programs or games since we were actually expecting a typhoon that day. Some kids were asking for games, sorry, kiddo I didn't prepare any, wala din ako pang prizes hehe.

But I am grateful that the weather permitted us to have a short party. Our little one is happy about the opportunity to spend an hour with friends on her special day.
