BDJ Social: Camp Gorgeous 2014

It was only this year that I've purchased a Belle de Jour planner. I've heard about it a couple of years back but it did not appeal to me at first because of its price. Quite frankly, I hardly use my planner. Its use for me is mainly to track our bills and payments. But what's great about BDJ is the active events it offers to its Bellas (name they coined for their women audience). BDJ also has a monthly subscription box called BDJ Box where every month you get beauty products right at your doorstep.

Last weekend, they held their BDJ social event dubbed as Camp Gorgeous at the Skydome of SM North EDSA. The event is open to all but access to the beauty talks needed pre-registration. On the day they announced the event on their Facebook page, I pre-registered right away. Excited??

There were several booths from reputable beauty companies like L'Oreal, Max Factor, Revlon, Benefit, and a Japanese cosmetic brand, Heroine. There was a photo booth of Canon, too. Most booths offered free makeovers, makeup tutorials, and contests.

I was pre-registered to 2 beauty talks: Makeup Essentials with Bobby Carlos for Max Factor and Beauty Up with Nicole Andersson for Cream Silk. I still had at least 30mins left before my first beauty talk so I joined the free makeup tutorial at the Revlon booth. We were 8 women, almost all are stay-at-home moms. Inside me was a shout saying, " we deserve this!"

Each of us had a brush set and mirror in front of us. The makeup artist of Revlon gave us a step-by-step process on how we can achieve an everyday-look makeup. In time I know, I'll perfect my eyebrows.

Those who pre-registered got a loot bag from BDJ that was filled with a health magazine, shampoo, hair conditioners, hair mask, and samples from cosmetic companies like Shu Uemura, Too Cool for School, and Yves Rocher.

The talks were hosted by Karen Bordador of Monster RX93.1

After my scheduled beauty talks, I saw a queue for a free skin analysis and facial sponsored by L'Oreal. I fell in line and it took 45 minutes before it was my turn. It was a long wait but I was just so curious how my analysis would result.

Free skin analysis. See my face on the laptop screen?

The technician took a photo of my face and the result was populated on her computer. Wrinkles are already showing on my skin, and my pores are big. Surprisingly, my skin's age showed that it was 5 years older than my actual age. Whoah! The technician advised me what L'Oreal products I can use for my skin. I told her I prefer using natural products because I got allergies before from a competing brand.

I need to drink more water and sleep on time!

It was my first time to attend a BDJ Social event and  I had a great time even though I was only there for 3 hours. I can say that I'm a late bloomer when it comes to makeup and these kind of events help newbies like me to learn. Till the next BDJ social event!
