All Natural Mosquito Repellent for Kids

You can't be too careful these days, specially when it comes to your children.

In the recent years, the Dengue problem in the Philippines had been increasing rapidly. And last year, a new epidemic surfaced (and thus another worry for moms) called Chikungunya - a viral disease transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes.

Like other kids, my son loves to stay at the community playground. The kid's playground is an ideal venue for mosquitoes to hang around. It is beside the community pool, the covered court, and around them are lots of plants. For the past years that we have stayed here, our area did not have any Dengue or Chikungunya breakouts. But you can never be sure if there were any incidents. My son should have protection. I can't take that risk.

I never liked mosquito repellent lotion because of the chemical composition it may have effect on my child. Good thing, Human Heart Nature has an all-natural mosquito repellent lotion that is perfect for my active preschooler. I soooo love HHN!

I bought this 50mL bottle at the Landmark Makati for Php94.75. You can also purchase this through their dealers or website. What I love about this lotion is that it's DEET-free. DEET is a chemical component of most mosquito repellent lotions that has been long debated for its safety. The Bug Shield is 100% no harmful chemicals so it's better on kids' sensitive skin than other commercial products. It's main ingredient is citronella oil.

The only thing that I should note about it is that you have to reapply every 2 hours, unlike other products that are longer lasting. Oh well, I don't mind reapplying. Besides, my son doesn't stay long outside anyway.

Will I recommend it? Definitely, most specially for younger kids.

  1. Yes, It's true. That works perfectly fine..

Most people use commercial products to prevent mosquitoes and other defenses for their safety due to mosquito-borne diseases such as Dengue, Malaria, Yellow Fever, LaCrosse Encephalitis (LAC), West Nile Virus (WNV) etc,.

But, several people love to do Natural Mosquito Repellent by planting herbs plants around or inside the house..

    Thanks for sharing. ;)
